Biography - Laura Skidmore Rhodes, MSN, RN

Laura Skidmore Rhodes is the current Vice President of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and the Executive Director for the West Virginia Registered Professional Nursing Board (Board), both of these in the United States of America. Ms. Rhodes’ received her baccalaureate degree in nursing from West Virginia University and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston Texas. Her graduate studies focused on emergency nursing and administration with an emphasis on emergency issues in the elderly population. Her career includes practice in emergency and critical care nursing in staff and leadership positions. Actively involved with the Emergency Nurses Association, Laura served on state and national committees and authored several articles related to emergency nursing care. She was a contributing author in the fourth and fifth editions of the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum. Ms. Rhodes’ has been working in the regulatory arena since 1992 and has been the Executive Director for the Board since 1995. She was one of the NCSBN representatives attending the International Conference on Nursing held in Yokohama, Japan and to the FEPI Conference held in Croatia in 2007.
