Biography - Professor Peter Noyce PhD FRPharmS

Professor Peter Noyce is professional adviser to the Ministerial Group for the establishment of the new regulatory body for pharmacy in the UK; the General Pharmaceutical Council. Recently he also chaired the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain’s report on “Making Pharmacy Education Fit for the Future”. From 2002-2005, Professor Noyce was a UK Medicines Commissioner, i.e. a member of the statutory medicines advisory body to UK Ministers of Agriculture and Health.

Peter Noyce is Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Manchester, England. From 1994-1998 he was Head of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Manchester, and from 2002-2005 Director, of the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education. This Government-funded Centre develops and delivers learning to support the continuing professional development of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across England. Formerly Professor Noyce was Deputy Chief Pharmacist at the Department (Ministry) of Health in London.

Professor Noyce research interests lie within health services research applied to medicines and pharmacy. In 2004 he established The Workforce Academy at Manchester, a national observatory on pharmacy workforce and practice. Current research within the academy includes a programme on quality and safety in community pharmacy and characterising poorly performing pharmacists.
