4 December 2025—WHPA members now collectively represent more than 47 million health professionals, making the Alliance the world’s largest coalition of health professional associations. Together, its members span all WHO regions and are represented across 179 countries and territories, covering nearly as many jurisdictions as there are UN Member States.
This milestone reflects recent membership reviews conducted by several WHPA member organizations, as well as the inclusion of new national associations in some professions. At a time when multilateral cooperation faces growing challenges, the health professions continue to demonstrate the value of international collaboration, solidarity, and collective representation.
Beyond its advocacy role, WHPA serves as a powerful platform for community building across the health professions. By bringing diverse professions together, the Alliance fosters dialogue, knowledge exchange, and mutual learning, helping to strengthen the global health workforce.
The Alliance’s continued growth also reinforces its leadership role in global health. With an expanded membership base, WHPA is better positioned to amplify the voice of health professionals and strengthen its advocacy at the highest levels of international health policy and decision-making.
