7 April 2026—On 1-7 April, WHPA and its members celebrated World Health Worker Week with a first: a joint social media campaign highlighting the unique value of health professionals which stems from the advanced education, rigorous regulation, and high degree of autonomy in clinical decision-making which set them apart.
In a series of 20 short statement videos made by senior leaders and practicing health professionals from WHPA’s member organizations, the campaign drove home its key message: that investing in the unique value of health professionals is not a cost, it is one of the highest-return public investments governments can make.

The campaign was highly successful, with particularly strong engagement with videos with a regional focus, which had the highest numbers of re-posts. Many viewers chose to share the message with their peers and contacts and amplify it beyond the reach of WHPA and its members. WHPA's opening post featuring the kick-off video by WHPA Chair Howard Catton garnered the single largest number of viewers across all platforms.
The campaign is an example of WHPA’s interprofessional collaboration in action: Member organizations supported one another by amplifying shared messages and showcasing collective advocacy, with full support from the WHPA Secretariat.
